Sharron Burns, a graduate of Christopher Newport University with a degree in Fine Arts, moved to Mint Hill, North Carolina in 2015. She has lived and studies world wide from Germany and Italy to Australia. She has studies with well-known artists Anne Abgott, Peggi Habets, Karlyn Holman, Ted Nutall, David Smith and Keiko Tanabe. Sharron began exhibiting her art by winning a Best in Show in Haleiwa, Hawaii. Her series of mandala drawings and paintings were features in a one woman show in Geneva, Illinois and a feature article in the Chicago Beacon News. Locally, she has exhibited with the Silver Brush Society, Matthews Art Guild, Mint Hill Arts, Mooresville Art Guild and the Guild of Charlotte Artists in the Charlotte area. She has won numerous awards in local shows and was the president of the Charlotte Artists Society. She is a signature member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina and has won product awards in 2017 and 2013. She has had paintings accepted by the South Carolina Watermedia Society and the Watercolor Society of Alabama and is a member of the American Watercolor Society and the Southern Watercolor Society.
Sharron has been described as a contemporary still life painter. Her works reflect her love of still life subjects plus crystal and glass. It depicts the crispness, freshness and transparency of watercolors. She enjoys exploring the diffused facets, light reflections, interesting shadows and the clarity of glass and crystal combined with nature’s bounty and unique objects. A farmer’s market is a treasure trove!
